Slowing the Pace

By this time on my last visit, I was wearing myself out, so this time around I tried to do better and allow myself to sit and relax once in a while, and it was easy to do on this particular day. Frontierland and Adventureland were my main areas of focus for the morning, and since I got there early enough, it was easy to get on the rides. Big Thunder Mountain wasn't quite a walk-on, but it wasn't a long wait, not much longer than 15 minutes, and Indiana Jones was a little longer of a wait, but only by five or ten minutes. I hit the sweet spot on all the rides!

I don't know why, but a visit is never complete for me until I go on the Ship of Columbia and/or the Mark Twain. I love the nice breeze it creates, and it's a slow, smooth ride. I took the Columbia first, and had some fun lingering in the back, watching everything pass by from the back, and I got amused at the end when the flag stopped waving as much, and decided to try to whack me in the head a few times.

I relaxed for a little while after that ride, going off into the surrounding area to sit in some shade. A couple in scooters came to grab some of that shade with me, and I noticed that the woman's sweater had fallen down next to her scooter, and I thought I better warn her that her sweater fell, because it was near enough to the wheel that it could get caught if she happened to move over it. Guess that was the caregiving experience in me kicking in. Anyway, after a while, I decided to go back and try out the Mark Twain, and with some strange stroke of luck, I discovered that Princess Tiana was going to ride it the same time!

I don't know what is the deal with me and face characters, but I still feel a little shy about meeting them. It's perhaps that they are allowed to talk, and I don't talk that much. I always worry about things getting awkward, because my mouth isn't as clear as my brain. My spoken word doesn't always come out as intelligible as I want. So I basically watched a few seconds of her interacting with others, which is just as enjoyable for me. I love watching characters interacting with people. I did walk past her once, and she said, "How ya doin', Sweetheart?" to me; good enough to make me happy.

After a little wandering around other parts of the park, and partaking a lunch with apple juice,

I wandered over to Cars Land with the hopes of enjoying some time there to see the lights after sunset. The first ride to try was Radiator Spring Racers, and it broke down as I was approaching the loading station. So...I didn't get to go on it, but I'm hoping for better luck on my next trip (yes, another one is coming) in a few months. That might be more fun then, because I'll have someone with me. I went on the two other rides, and as I was loading on to Mater's ride, the lights went on, so as I exited, I saw them all up and down the street. I took the rest of the time trying to find places to practice my night time photos on my camera.

I always love the Radiator Springs area. It's my favorite spot to photograph, and night definitely gave me a little bit of a challenge, but it was worth it.

I walked through San Fransokyo and tried a little bit of photography there, but it was more of a challenge there, because people were constantly walking by and getting in the picture. I prefer taking pictures without crowds. A few people are fine, but not as many as were there that evening, so I don't think I got a great photo out of it. Grizzly Peak was fun to photograph also. The geysers were spraying misty water all over the place, and it looked incredibly Halloween-ish. That was fun to take pictures of.

I loved how creepy this all looked, and from the camera settings,
even the raft looks ghostly!

I wandered back to Disneyland to finish up my night photography there, and got some awesome photos of the lagoon in Tomorrowland,

and one fun shot of the Matterhorn with the monorail speeding through (basically, because of the speed, it's only a streak of color, but I think it's fun).

Last, but not least, I took photos of the main square on Main Street, U.S.A., and I have to mention this before I forget, but on this trip, every evening time I passed that fire station and saw that lamp glowing through the window, I kept getting the strong, almost pleading message in my mind one simple word, and that was, Remember. If you haven't read my past logs, you might not understand the significance. It is in reference to a special moment in the past at that spot. I have also written a poem about it, and posted it on my poetry blog--My One Last Wish
