Returning to the Grindstone

I'm back, and boy, am I ever! I came back on Thanksgiving morning, and goodness, I can tell you that the jump between the 80 degrees I was experiencing in California to the 40-ish degrees back home was quite dramatic, and forget the fake snow; there was real snow at home the next morning! Welcome home to me!

My duties in taking care of my brother didn't skip a beat as I had the privilege of preparing his Thanksgiving meal to him that afternoon. I'm not sure how much he realized my absence, but he ate it right up with no qualms at that time anyway. I came home with mountains of his laundry (plus a few extra from others) needing washing. It was a grand-sized welcoming party, I say.

I thought I was out of work for my little side-job, but I've been told more is coming, and while I wait, I've been given a few extra documents to work on, so that should keep me happy for a week or two.

The change in climate did leave me with a little bit of a cold, but it seems to be behaving itself so far. I haven't developed the ridiculous dry cough yet that I had the last couple of times I got something. It didn't inhibit my singing practice. I was a little bit nervous; it had been two weeks after-all, plus I was needing to lubricate my throat and I didn't have water, but I managed to pull it off, and I discovered my nemesis named self-criticism is trying to sneak in, but I fought it.

I've got this.

Enjoy your holiday season!
