In case I didn't mention before, I went to Virginia the day after Thanksgiving to visit family who lived out there. I have been back there before and have seen many of the monuments in Washington D.C., so I don't have a lot of photos taken from this vacation. We (my sisters and I) did go to Ford's Theater and toured it. That was fascinating.
I did get a tour of the Johns Hopkins campus from a family member attending college there as the evening was beginning and got to catch a glimpse of the sunset. I tried to take a picture, but I don't think my camera did it justice. It doesn't have a sunset setting.
My sister's husband is in the military, so we got the opportunity to see a USO concert at the Kennedy Center. That was fun and got to see some big name celebrities there. The one I was the most familiar with was Kristin Chenowyth, but they were all fun to watch. The only problem with it was that they had a band show up in the second half that insisted the audience get up and dance. Well, good rebellious me went so far as to stand up, but there was no way in the world I was going to dance like an idiot. ;) My sisters kept trying to bump me over in a jocular sort of way, but there was no way I was going to give in. I was resolved not to do it by then. I still enjoyed the music and loved watching the musicians have fun on the stage. Sorry, this is one reason why I don't attend high energy concerts like that. I just do not dance, nor will I...not in that situation anyway. I love to dance, but only when I want to.
I also went with my sisters to Williamsburg for a few hours and saw very little, partly because we had limited time there and partly because of my sisters. Both of them have bad feet and they gave out on them after a while. It would have been fun to see more, but it was fun to go there. I don't think any of us regretted doing so.
The one part of going to the East Coast that is a little different is that I tend to stick out even more there. There are a lot of blondes (fake and natural) where I live and when I go out there, I suddenly find myself among an innumerable amount of brunettes/dark haired people. Not on this trip, but on another a few years ago and to the same place, my sister pointed out that she noticed people looked at me a lot. I sense it all the time...and I can see how they are looking at me when I'm facing them or conversing with them. It's interesting and almost fascinating to observe. There were a lot of school groups touring Washington D.C. at the time and I'm almost certain I heard a little boy in one of the groups say to his classmates, "She looks like that girl in FROZEN. Look at her hair!" Same old story.
I didn't get a lot of photos taken of myself, but here are the ones I like the best, despite the baggy pants.
