Just on a side note, I had an interesting experience while sitting there and listening to the music. I had a friend on Facebook say something earlier that just broke my heart. It was a comment of frustration about the country and has brought her to the point that she was really struggling with feeling patriotic. I have heard comments from other people in other places with the same kind of helpless and hopeless tone about the country. I had to post something back, not straight at her, but to everyone who reads my things that we need to stop it. We may not like the way the country's going right now, but we still need to keep heart, because we are the heart of the country. If our hearts fail, the country fails.
I was sitting near the top of the stands, so I got a good look at all of the people who came and I became overwhelmed at the incredible experience I felt. As I looked over all of them, I knew that sitting here were people of different political beliefs, different religious beliefs and different ages all joined together in one moment of unification. I couldn't help but feel that I was experiencing a beautiful moment. There were the young dancing and singing. The adults were clapping and singing along too. The stadium was full of bright cell phone lights shining from out of the dark. It was just one wonderful, beautiful moment for me. It nearly brought me to tears a few times. I cannot express enough just how beautiful that was. I wish everyone could have seen it that way. It was simply amazing...and the fireworks, too.
