Home is My Happy Place

Being able to help at home is a happy and beautiful experience for me.  There are routines in each day, yet enough difference to make each day interesting.  I get to spend my day with three family members, each with individual needs that I am able to help with.  I'm used to having to juggle between them, but now I have much more energy to do it than I had before.  I'm waking up in the morning (still at early bird hours) with more enthusiasm for the day and it has been a wonderful experience being able to spend extra time with my mom, and she is much happier to have the company also.  Few days end without me feeling like something was accomplished.

There are many out there, some which I have known about in person, some I've heard about over the media, and some I may not know at all who have searched the world over for the secret to being happy.  Allow me to let you in on a little secret: it's not far from your reach.  You don't need to look to the other side of the world.  No travel is required.

Happiness isn't money or a successful career.  It's not an educational level or brains.  It's not within a collection of material belongings or fashion trends.  It's a place where there's a sense of belonging, where gifts and talents are needed, where appreciation thrives, and it's where individuality is embraced.  There are few places in the world that accept all of these elements, but one of them is within the walls of a real home.

Home is my happy place, and as the years go on, I will not be thinking about the time I spent earning money or my status in society.  I will be thinking of the people I love and have known over the years.  I will be thinking about the times of laughter, the struggles and tears, and the joyful triumphs.  Nothing else matters. NOTHING.
