When Making an Adjustment Becomes a Success

So many of you might not understand the excitement that brought this manner of thinking on. Perhaps it's only for those who like to cook or bake, but I had something exciting happen to me recently. We have an overwhelming supply of blackberries in our yard and we've been trying to cut down the ones that have spread and gone extremely wild--it's a daunting task.  I still swear Sleeping Beauty's castle had to have some blackberries mixed in with those roses, because the thorns are extremely painful and catch on to everything. Back from the sidetrack: We had a good supply of blackberries this year, so we decided to try to juice them and make some jelly, but we had more juice than we needed, so I set it aside with the intention of trying a blackberry punch. I found a recipe online that wasn't specific, but I didn't care. It gave me a good enough idea to work it out, but by the time I was ready to make the punch, I looked at the ingredients and it turned out that I was out of certain ingredients and couldn't follow that recipe. It was time to get my creative problem solving skills to use and looked around to find out what I did have, and created my own punch. It turned out much better than I expected, and even the others who tried it said it was delicious. Yes! Finally...success!

It comes to me thinking about this that a lot of us at some point in our lives find out that there is an ingredient missing in order to accomplish the things we need to do, but in finding that we are missing something, do we give up, because we are short on something, or do we adjust to what we can do to meet those needs? There are times when we need to go a different direction than the one we intended to, and sometimes that will require us to do different things to get the results we are working toward. The amazing thing is that sometimes by taking that direction, you discover something awesome that benefits your results to a much higher degree than had you taken the original route. Others benefits from the results also.

So when you end up short on something in life, don't give up, because the odds are that what you do have will be sufficient, and will create something that equals or perhaps even surpasses your expectations.

Here is the recipe I scribbled down while I put it together:
