Look one way, something is in. Look another way, that same thing is out. Such is the world of fashion. Perhaps it's the exhausting constant change of what's trending, perhaps it's the idea of society trying to tell me what I should wear or look when I don't like it, but I've never bought into it. Trends, or fads as some might call them, are temporary and don't last, and to me don't seem to look good, let alone make sense, to me.
As a child growing up with hand-me-down and second-hand clothes, I grew up getting excited knowing that the one item of clothing I liked that my sister was beginning to outgrow would soon be mine. I remember the first time I got an actual new from the store dress that I got for Christmas. I was so excited to have something that didn't belong to anyone else first. In general, I was a contented child and was happy with whatever I had, and I think some of that still lingers inside of me. I don't feel the need to go out and buy more clothes just to be "in" with the fashion trends. That also extends to other things such as how to do hair, nails, makeup, and so on. I've done a bit of my own thing in all of those areas and don't really listen much to the fashion trends.
I'm all for making it simple. Once in a while I'll add something new, but in general, I go with my flow, not the trend. I use what clothes I have to make myself presentable, and I prefer the natural look in make-up, thus no crazy colors or eye designs. I think the most extreme I get is to put color on my eyebrows since they are so light that they are barely visible. Interestingly, I had offers from someone I knew to have them micro-bladed and colored, but I prefer temporary makeup, because I want to be able to be natural sometimes. My hair I prefer natural as well. There's a good chance it won't follow fashion trends, because I don't use products for it. I'm not anti-product. I don't like the way it feels in my hair. I don't use heating irons often either, and even though I know my hair could look amazing with all this stuff, I like the challenge of learning how to get my hair to work on its own with little extra help, and sometimes I come up with some great results. I have a loose curl in my hair that sometimes shows, so I go with whatever my hair's flow is for the day.
To sum things up, I personally don't care what people are saying is in or out. I've figured out things that work for me, but don't fit in their ideas. I go with my flow, and always have.
