Oh dear, what a time! From fighting for eligible vaccine openings to desperately locating a working shower, this has been some memorable times! I'm not up for vaccination until April 1, but two are fully vaccinated and another received the first shot. We're well on our way! The shower incident? Well, let's just say be grateful for water in your homes. There's some construction going on in ours that inhibited our use of it, so we've developed some great appreciation for our water.
I've been reading articles all over the internet reporting how introverts dealt with the internet. Most of the headlines say it was hard on them, but if you read the article, it only states that it was hard for some of them, not all of them, and I imagine that fares the same for extroverts. Some handled it better than others. For me personally, I was living this lifestyle long before the pandemic due to the caregiving responsibilities I ended up taking on. It can be a struggle at times, but after a while you learn how to use your time. Sometimes I create. Sometimes I write. Sometimes I work on projects. There's always something to do, but there is the factor of not being able to interact that gets hard sometimes. I'm fortunate enough that I have neighbors who check on us once in a while, and even though we still have to social distance, we have pleasant little chats sometimes. People doing this just for the pandemic will be free to socialize again in time, but for caregivers, this will continue. We're still going to be spending most of our time at home taking care of our loved ones. It's still going to be rare to get out and socialize. We're still going to have days when we yearn for company and other days when when dream of having some me time. So if you know of a caregiver in your life, give them lots of love, because this isn't going to end for them, not completely. You might want to include medical personnel in that also. Those poor people have worn themselves out trying to keep people alive (one particular story I know about was a nurse from my community who almost lost her life as a result).
There are still people out there who want to continue the gloom and doom, but I've felt for a long time that we've past the worst of this. Yes, there might be a few surges, and it will take some time to eradicate the virus, but I'm seeing that the biggest threat is over. I'm delighted to see things starting to open up again and in relation to this happy to see possibilities for employment opportunities. Perhaps it's also the effect of my favorite season (Spring) approaching and signs of new life that just has me all bright and happy right now.
We can do this!
