Let Them Go

Had a celebration potluck at work yesterday celebrating 10,000 scanned and archived medical paper charts.  That's been my project for more than a few years now, but I've only really actively worked on it for the past four or five months.  There are still many more charts to go, but what really drives me is the progress that I see as I keep working.  There's just something satisfying in seeing how much I've done so far and it helps me keep my eye on the ultimate goal which is to have all of them archived.  There are still a lot to do.

The administrator's office is right next to where I work and she insisted (since I like to write) that I write something up in celebration of the moment.  One morning while coming to work, it just popped in my head to rewrite the words to "Let it Go" and rename it "Let Them Go" as a type of parody to the song.  I was laughing all morning about it and the ladies at work were quite suspicious about what was going on in my mind (I didn't tell them until I had it all written down).  Well, it's my own fault, but now they want to hear me sing it and um, well, I've always been uncomfortable about singing that song partly because it is so popular and I don't like having to be compared to Idina Menzel and partly because I am very uncomfortable singing by myself.  I almost got away with not doing it yesterday, but my administrator is not letting me off the hook just yet.  I did this to myself.

BTW: I have shared the words with everyone and they all thought it was hilarious.  It may be that medical people will see the humor in it more than others, though.

Originally, they wanted me to dress in costume (Elsa costume) and sing it, but I think I managed to get out of that.  Whew!

I'll post the song at some later time after I've got the glitches worked out of it.

Someone said this cake needed  to be corrected to "I made it!"
