Encountering the Evil Eye

The morning began with the early Magic Morning at Disneyland.  I took my time getting there though, because I really didn't find getting on rides so important to be there strictly at 7 a.m.  I discovered last time that going on rides wasn't on my must do list, though I did catch some rides that were open that early, and at the first thing in the morning was a beautiful time for me, because the crowd was lower in numbers, so I was able to get on and off the rides in not only Fantasyland, but also Critter Country, New Orleans Square, and Frontierland.  It was a delight to get on the Casey Jr. Train and find a seat that wasn't a cage--didn't really like that one when I had to do it last year.  Something about being caged up bothered me.

I noticed on the Mark Twain boat how some of the trees were turning, and it really felt like I was going back into the fall season while going on that ride, which makes sense, because the temperatures there were the same as they would have been in October where I live.  As a side note to that, I found it a little amusing that everyone was wandering around in coats and hats.  I had my jacket with me in case I was surprised with a change in the weather but never felt the need to put it on.  The temperature was perfect, and I felt no need to put anything extra on.  In that aspect, I felt a little like the fish out of the water, because it wasn't even close to feeling cold to me.

There came a point when I was done with the rides, so I took to one of my favorite past times to do at Disneyland, and that is to wander aimlessly to look at things and people watch.  The Christmas decorations were fun to look at, but I found out common character meet and greet areas where I could spend a few minutes watching characters interact with people.  I'm perfectly happy not getting all of the attention.  Sitting back and watching the others get it is usually more interesting to me.  There was one time during my wandering that I felt the need to sit down for a few minutes to rest my feet, and the place I happened to choose ended up being directly across from where the Evil Queen was doing a meet and greet.  It was fun to watch when I wasn't getting distracted by the ducks wandering around my feet.  One of them wandered over to her and she threatened to have it for a meal.  That particular interaction didn't indicate how aware she was of all the people sitting there to watch, but there was no doubt in my mind she became quite aware of me later.

It was a little later and I was taking a walk toward the castle from the area of the Matterhorn.  I was approaching the pathway that led to Snow White's Grotto, and I was only a small distance away from it when suddenly the Evil Queen came prancing along right in my direction.  Her head was high in her usual proud poise, looking around down her nose to all the peasants along the way, until I caught her eye.  The intensity in that look spoke of sudden condemnation.  I got the evil eye for a good length of time (only seconds in reality time, but that cursing gaze certainly made it feel longer). She looked away disdainfully and carried on through her pathway--talk about looks that could kill!  I went against her usual advice she gives and smiled broadly (bring on the smile wrinkles!) when she stepped in front of a rather large group who were waiting for the camera man to get their picture taken and took over the spotlight.  That was beautiful to witness.

This day was a singing day for me.  How many times I broke out into song with the music on the speakers I don't know, but I found myself doing it on and off all day.  After the brief interaction with The Queen, I was walking down Main Street, and they were playing a Christmas song that I started singing along to.  I looked back and saw a guy looking around trying to figure out where that voice was coming from.  I'm not a loud singer, but apparently loud enough.
