- You aren't being restricted from spending time with your loved ones. I have family to take care of, and having someone to care about certainly provides the needed human interactions, and for those of us who want to give of ourselves to someone, it is satisfactory. As for those who have friends and family outside of the house, there are so many ways to still keep in touch these days be it through social media, face time, or the many other options out there to reach out. Isn't technology wonderful?
- Hobbies. There are many hobbies out there, and I'm sure everyone has one that can function in a home. As a person who needs to create, I'm usually making some sort of video out of my photographs, listening or singing to music, and writing among other random things I might do. I'm not much of a craft person, but for those who love to do that, it's an ideal time to start that next decorative project. Learning new recipes to cook is also one that I know several people have picked up on already.
- Reading. For those who don't mind reading a book or more, it's the ideal time to go through and mark off some of those books you've been keeping on your wish list for so long.
- Exercise. Surprise, surprise, you don't need a gym membership to exercise. All you need is a little space in your living space. It goes super fast and if it's something involved with what you enjoy, it's actually a lot of fun. I inherited an old exercise bike from my grandma, and I love to get on it and listen to music (and might get a little hyper when a song perks me up). For those of us who have yards, it's totally appropriate exercise just to go out and work in the plants. You get lots of fresh air that way also. And for those not necessarily restricted to your homes and have a super quiet park or natural recreational area nearby it's a wonderful way to get out and take a walk. Dancing doesn't always require a crowd either.
- Meditation. Just stopping what you're doing and just sitting back to listen to your surroundings or take some deep breaths a quiet place can renew your spirits incredibly. Find a place with no people around, just you and your quiet place (white noise or soothing music is fine if total silence gives you anxiety). Give yourself time. Don't rush yourself. Your mind may be racing for the first few minutes, but once you connect, it's a beautiful moment. If meditation doesn't seem your thing, there are other relaxation exercises you can do such as deep breathing exercises or muscle tension hold and release exercises. Yoga is totally appropriate also.
So for all of those people out there freaking out over not being able to get out and about, be patient. This isn't going to last forever, but please take some hints from your fellow introverts on how to survive the current introverted world. We've had to learn how to live in yours. Let us teach you how to live in ours.
